![]() Animating grouped layers to create a moving magnifying glass effect A couple weeks ago we looked at one way to create a magnifying glass effect in Adobe Photoshop. The effect used Photoshop's "Group" feature to reveal hidden content between layers. Today we delve into Photoshop's companion application, ImageReady, to animate this effect. ![]() More about Time Particles Last time around in Studio Artist, we looked at some of the basics of creating and using a feature called "Time Particles." Time Particles are, in essence, self-animating brush strokes. They can be used to create paint daubs that float around the canvas, images that break apart or come together over time or just about anything else you'd like to do given a boundless creative environment in which any kind of paint stroke can have motion applied to it. ![]() Part 1: Time Particles This is a project I've wanted to start for quite some time: a comprehensive quick reference guide to Synthetik Studio Artist. There never has been a feature by feature outline of this program's capabilities. We begin this week with our first installment: part 1 in our guide to the Studio Artist Paint Synthesizer, focusing on Time Particles. ![]() There's QuickTime authoring built into what? Have you ever been to one of those diners, maybe a greasy dive on the side of the highway, that has some variation of the time-honored slogan, "come for the [whatever you came for], stay for the [whatever they want you to stay for]" plastered on their roadside sign? You know, like, "come for the pie, stay for the down-home atmosphere," or "come for the chili, stay for the only bathrooms for 200 miles in any direction because you just had the chili." That particular bit of good ol' American kitsch kept running through my mind as I looked over Adobe's GoLive 6, but with a geeky twist: "Come for the visual site editing, stay for the QuickTime authoring." ![]() The Adobe Web Workgroup Server (included with Adobe GoLive 6.0) automatically stores a file’s history of changes, and it prevents two or more users from working on a file at the same time. You can lock and edit files on the Web Workgroup Server using Adobe Photoshop 7.0, Adobe Illustrator 10, Adobe InDesign 2.0, Adobe LiveMotion 2.0, or even Macromedia Dreamweaver MX.
