Exploring MultiPen Mode parameters
We continue our exploration of the Studio Artist Paint Synthesizer this week with a look at MultiPen parameters. MultiPen is a mode in Studio Artist that allows you to take any Paint Patch and turn it into a brush that appears to have multiple tips. Sound simple? Well, it is, but the results can be quite complex. And, as with all things Studio Artist, there are about a bazillion ways to tweak the settings to change the behavior of a MultiPen brush.

In this review, I commented on several shortcomings that I thought were holding it back as a viable plugin for creating warp and distortion effects in Adobe Photoshop. How to get rid of Jaguar's Dock
About a year ago, I wrote up a little how-to entitled "Ding Dong, the Dock is Dead," in which I showed several measures you could take to make OS X (then at version 10.1) look and act more like the "Classic" Mac OS 9. OS X certainly has evolved since then, and, as I've gotten more comfortable with how things work, I've abandoned some of the little apps that made OS X a tad more Classic-esque.

Production Techniques could have been an interesting book that really explores the best ways to optimize your Flash movies for the best performance on the web. That seems to be the main purpose of the book but most of the book glosses on simple ways to create Flash movies that hark back to the Flash 3 days or even earlier to the early days of FutureSplash in some cases.
