![]() 35 natural media brushes It's quite obvious that Creature House Expression 3 is growing in Momentum. Each time I post a new article about this application, I receive a ton of requests for more information and, of course, more free addons. Hence this week's collection of free skeletal strokes. Xserve cluster node also arrives More than two months after its introduction and a month later than expected, Apple has begun shipping its new 17-inch PowerBook. The new model, which debuted at the Macworld Expo in January, includes a 17-inch LCD display boasting a screen resolution of 1,440 x 900 pixels. Apple has also started shipping a new cluster node for its Xserve line of G4-based rackmount servers. Both are available now.
![]() How to add your own button presets Whether you're preparing footage for a client or setting up a presentation for the boardroom, it's a good bet you don't need the full functionality of a high-end DVD authoring suite. After all, you're not duplicating this thing for the mass market. Nevertheless, you want your DVD to have some professionalism to it. And while Apple's iDVD is certainly adequate for home movie presentations--more than adequate, since the advent of iDVD 3--it's likely your professional audience won't be too impressed with the preset buttons and graphics packed into this consumer application. ![]() Using Photoshop's built-in tools to create light rays It's been quite a while since we've examined lighting effects in Adobe Photoshop 7. When last we left off, we were looking at ways of compositing reflected light onto indoor scenes. Now, as we pick it up, we move outdoors for a look at ways to create light rays and other sky lighting effects using only the built-in tools available in Photoshop. ![]() Filter effects package for Adobe After Effects Final Effects Complete is a set of more than 100 special effects, from simple noise generation to particle-based molten goo effects--11 categories in all, including color correction tools, blurs, particle generators and image manipulation filters. It's an impressive, far-reaching collection of filters for creating effects and enhancing motion graphics. But sheer bulk isn't all Final Effects for Mac OS X has going for it. Though, as most of you are aware, this is something of a resuscitation of an elderly filter collection, it is, nevertheless, quite current in terms of quality and workflow. This is a solid, professional-level collection of filters that should definitely be on the "buy" list of any motion graphics artist.
