![]() New versions of Final Cut Pro, DVD Studio Pro and Shake highlight offerings Macintosh creative professionals have clearly been anxious about Apple's presence at the 2003 convention of the National Association of Broadcasters, hoping for at least some inkling of movement in Apple's professional lineup. With announcements of full-version updates and significant enhancements to the company's full range of professional-level offerings--Shake, Final Cut Pro and DVD Studio Pro, not to mention the previous weeks' announcements of updates to Logic Audio--the company did not disappoint. ![]() Stamping and merging layers This week we launch into a new series on Adobe Photoshop, a series that will periodically provide quick and easy productivity tips for Adobe Photoshop users. Photoshop, which is, obviously, one of the more mature applications for creative production, is loaded with little secrets that beginners, intermediates and even long-time users may be unaware of. Anything to reduce our .swf's a few bytes while still looking cool I have seen a number of experimental Flash sites that use ActionScripting to create movement and even using the new Drawing API in Flash MX to create motion graphics with absolutely no symbols at all. While many of these sites will let you download the .fla and .swf files to play with the code, they don't explain in detail how these projects came to be. ![]() 28 sketch effects for working with photographic images Synthetik Studio Artist 2.0 is known in large part for its painting features. But in addition to this functionality, the program is also a powerful tool for rotoscoping, particularly in the area of applying painterly effects to video and still images. The program ships with quite a few presets for accomplishing these effects, including natural media emulation for paint and sketch styles. To these we now add our own sketch styles for your painterly enjoyment. We are working on on adding new leaders to the DMN Forum's host panel to help champion our forums.
