![]() 25 squiggle brushes for creating complex textures effects We've covered quite a wide range of brushes in our various series of weekly downloads for Adobe Photoshop, from spirographic effects to gigantic textured brushes to brushes based on images of nature. This time around though I'm going a slightly different route with a set of brushes based on chaotic line patterns, which, when applied, can produce anything from rough edges to highly detailed, deep background textures. Read on for download and installation instructions. ![]() Working with button highlight shapes and colors Last week I was working on a DVD project in Apple's iDVD 3. There was a pre-existing theme that suited my purpose well in this particular case, so I didn't have to worry about making any major tweaks to the overall design of the menus. But there were two things I didn't like about it: the shape and color of the highlights. Let's take a look at how you go about changing these parameters. ![]() Special effects suite and plugin for Adobe Photoshop A couple of months ago, Auto FX Software sent me their complete DreamSuite effects package, and I have to say I've found one major flaw with it: There's simply too much to review all at once. Fortunately, the DreamSuite Bundle is also available in three separate, smaller packages--Series 1, Series 2 and Gels--so I have a logical (and merciful) stopping point. This time around we'll take a look at the first package, DreamSuite Series 1. There and Back Again - Workflow with LiveType I had to laugh out loud the other day when someone posted on one of the various message boards that he/she didn’t know what the LiveType disc was for that came with his Final Cut Pro 4 package. It really isn’t a laughing matter, as LiveType is a separate application from Final Cut Pro 4 and does not interact directly with the editing software. However, by using the following steps, getting Final Cut Pro 4 and LiveType to work together is a snap. ![]() Standard and Pro versions gain new effects, performance improvements, OpenGL support Adobe today announced the upcoming release of After Effects 6.0. The new version brings several new features to the company's compositing and motion graphics package, including OpenGL support, new effects and performance improvements, as well as a new pricing structure for the standard and Pro editions. It's expected to be available in August for Mac OS X and Windows. We are working on on adding new leaders to the DMN Forum's host panel to help champion our forums.
