Special effects suite and plugin for Adobe Photoshop
A couple of months ago, Auto FX Software sent me their complete DreamSuite effects package, and I have to say I've found one major flaw with it: There's simply too much to review all at once. Fortunately, the DreamSuite Bundle is also available in three separate, smaller packages--Series 1, Series 2 and Gels--so I have a logical (and merciful) stopping point. This time around we'll take a look at the first package, DreamSuite Series 1.

30 natural media skeletal strokes
It's been almost two months since our last bundle of goodies for Expression users, so I thought I'd go ahead and rectify that lag today with a new collection brushes. This time around, we have 30 skeletal strokes designed to reproduce natural media, including dry and wet media. Read on for download and installation instructions.
Creating a tabletop reflection effect in Freehand MX
You've seen this effect before, most predominantly in advertising materials in which products need to look shiny and new--the look of an object sitting on a semi-reflective surface. This effect can be created with clever photography or, much more readily, though image manipulation in a program like Adobe Photoshop. But can it be done with vector graphics? It certainly can, and today we'll look at an easy way to create this effect on extruded text in Macromedia Freehand MX.

ACD Systems has released Canvas 9. Canvas is an illustration and photo manipulation tool previously sold by Deneba, which merged with ACD back in April. The new version of Canvas offers workflow and functionality enhancements and is available now for Mac OS X and Windows.
