![]() 25 brushes for cloud and vapor trail effects A couple weeks ago I wrote up a tutorial on creating cloud effects using nothing but the filters built into Adobe Photoshop. But there's a better, more customizable way to produce not only cloud effects, but also other vaporous matter, such as jet trails and smoke plumes. Can you guess which way I'm referring to? That's right: custom brushes that use the color and scattering features of Photoshop 7's Paint Engine. And so I've created a bunch of these brushes, compiled into a free collection I like to call "Nagel Series 11 Photoshop Brushes." Read on for download and installation instructions. ![]() Recording brush strokes as movies while you paint So you think you're pretty fancy, sitting there with your motion graphics package, playing with vectors and making paint-on effects that wiggle on the screen, eh? Well, maybe you are. I'm not here to dispute that. But I am here to show you another way to do it with an infinitely more "painterly" feel using that most painterly of applications, Synthetik Studio Artist 2.0, and that most painterly of instruments, your wrist. FlashPaper is definitely one reasons to buy it, the real reason is getting the clients off our back. Contribute was released last year by Macromedia and now it's in the second incarnation. This time around there are versions for both the Mac as well as the PC. Now a MacHead like me can create a site and collaborate with clients or other web team members on their PC's anywhere at any time. Here's how Contribute works in a nutshell. ![]() Creating wraps for placed bitmap and EPS graphics Here's a question that comes up every now and again: How do you make text wrap around an object in Adobe Illustrator? Better yet, how do you get text to wrap around placed bitmap or EPS graphics within Illustrator? It just doesn't seem possible, right? Right. But here's a simple workaround. ![]() Part 1: Standard vector painting Adobe After Effects 6.0 has some great new paint features. If you're familiar with its old Vector Paint plugin, you'll definitely love the new options that the After Effects team incorporated with the Photoshop paint engine. And if you weren't a fan of the old paint and its interface oddities, you'll have good reason to take a look at paint again under the new version. With this in mind, this week we kick off a new series exploring the painting features in After Effects 6.0. We are working on on adding new leaders to the DMN Forum's host panel to help champion our forums. If you know of someone who'd be a great addition to the DMN Forum team -- or if you yourself would like to join our team ------ please contact us. |
