![]() Creating stamped and leafed effects with Photoshop's built-in tools If you're looking for tutorials on creating metallic effects in Adobe Photoshop, there's certainly no shortage on the Web. This is one of the reasons I've avoided doing these sorts of pieces in the past. However, I haven't seen any such articles that you can use for turning an ordinary photographic image into something resembling foil, leafing, stamped metal or other similar effects, which you might use to create the appearance of a gold charm, a coin or maybe the silver leafing on a wedding invitation. And so.... New versions of Flash, Dreamweaver, Fireworks available now Macromedia has shipped its new lineup of graphic design tools in the MX 2004 family. These include two new versions of Flash, Flash MX 2004 and Flash MX Professional 2004; Dreamweaver MX 2004; and Fireworks MX 2004. The company has also introduced the new Studio MX 2004 suite, as well as Flash Player 7. All are available now for Mac OS X and Windows. ![]() 15 natural media skeletal strokes This week we present our sixth series of SK Strokes for Creature House Expression. The brushes in this collection are all designed to emulate the look of clumpy and sparse wet bristles and are based on an entirely new range of bitmap sources, each with its own individual tip so that you have more variety to work from, if you decide to modify these to your own liking. Read on for download and installation instructions. ![]() Part 1: An introduction to expression management In earlier versions of Cinema 4DXL, C.O.F.F.E.E. programming language was the tool required to script both complicatedly interesting and simple operators to control the 3D objects and attributes of your project. With the release of Cinema4D version 8, a new, comprehensive, easy to use tool was introduced called XPresso. Still, many people are still afraid to open it up, assuming only code warriors and superusers will understand its contents. If I can use it, so can you. Here is the first of two simple tutorials to demystify Maxon's new expression manager. If you've never used XPresso, or are new to it, here's a simple breakdown of just how easy and useful it is to incorporate into your next project. Helpful assistants a click away Remember the story of the shoe cobbler who had little fellows come into his shop to cobble shoes at night? These assistants helped the cobbler when he was pressed for time. Having elves help with our After Effects work would be cool, if only we could lure them into our electronic sweatshops. If you were impressed with Profound Effects Useful Things, you are going to find their latest product Useful Assistants a blessing, and you don’t have to worry about elf uprisings.
