![]() Overview and first impressions of the new Photoshop, ImageReady, InDesign, Illustrator and GoLive With the announcement of its new Creative Suite, Adobe's done quite a bit more than just add a "CS" monicker to its creative applications. All of the company's design tools--Photoshop, ImageReady, Illustrator, InDesign and GoLive--have been given a significant overhaul in and of themselves and then tied together through core technologies to provide a whole new level of integration and streamlined workflow. We will, of course, bring you complete reviews, walkthroughs and tutorials when the final versions are released. But since I've had a chance to get a little hands-on with the new applications in the Creative Suite, I thought it worthwhile to go in depth into some of the new features and give you my first impressions. ![]() Image and color correction plugin for Adobe Photoshop There's no shortage of color correction tools on the market. Nevertheless, Extensis has again managed to distinguish itself--even in this crowded category--with a plugin for Adobe Photoshop that not only provides powerful color correction features, but also general image correction tools, all of which are at once deep, easy to use and understand and designed with the professional in mind. The plugin: Intellihance Pro 4.1. ![]() 25 chunky, creamy, splattering art brushes I began this week's series of Paint Patches for Synthetik Studio Artist with the intention of creating a variety of splattering brushes. But along the way, as often happens when working in Studio Artist, I had a few fortuitous accidents that led me along an entirely different path and wound up with something I've been trying to create for quite a long time: brushes that create clumpy, wet, bristly strokes similar in many ways to impasto, with several variations on how the brushes work with the source and canvas images. ![]() Combining Adobe After Effects and Cinema 4D to create moving highlights on Logos Glint passes can add a simple bit of motion to a static image, or provide the additional highlight the client is looking for. It's a handy, yet simple trick to have in your skill set. This week we'll take a look at one technique for creating this effect using Maxon's flagship 3D program, Cinema 4D, along with Adobe After Effects to develop easy glint passes that add dimension in an instant. If you're a veteran user, you may think it a basic technique, but take a look at an alternative method that's easy enough for a beginner but may hold a new approach for even a seasoned After Effects user. Macintosh Users Get Initial Taste of Website Management Program Many people ask me how they can update their website since their contracted web designer is no longer in business or their web staff has been eliminated. This would lead to problems for most situations because the individual wouldn't want to get into the website design issues but would just like to make a quick update. This is where Macromedia's Contribute would enter the picture. We are working on on adding new leaders to the DMN Forum's host panel to help champion our forums.
