Zoom Masks for DVD Studio Pro 2
Part 1: Creating custom masks for zooming in on an asset

You know that in DVD Studio Pro 2, you have a certain limited amount of control over the positioning of assets within a button. If the asset has an aspect ratio different from the button shape, you can move it around a little bit to focus on a different portion of the image within the button, though usually the amount of leeway is minimal. Today we'll look at a trick for designing buttons that allow you to zoom in on a specific portion of your asset, regardless of aspect ratio and without resizing your footage or distorting your button shape.

Maxon Ships Cinema 4D R8.5
'Sketch and Toon' non-photographic renderer also released

Maxon has released a major update to Cinema 4D, the company's 3D modeling and animation suite. The new 8.5 release includes improvements throughout the basic package, as well as in the Advanced Render module. The company has also introduced a new rendering module called Sketch and Toon, a non-photographic renderer for Cinema 4D. Both are available now for Mac OS X and Windows.

Corel Updates Painter
Version 8.1 brings back custom palettes, addresses bug issues

Corel today released an update to Painter 8, the company's painting and design application. The new 8.1 release addresses a number of bugs and also reintroduces custom palettes. The update is available now for Mac OS X and Windows.
